Since the introduction of cloud computing technology nearly 20 years ago, applications and computing resources have continued to migrate from enterprise data centers to cloud environments. The migration of IT infrastructure to the cloud continues, and Gartner predicts that by 2025, 80% of enterprises will shut down traditional data centers and rely entirely on cloud providers for their physical infrastructure (Figure 1). As this transformation progresses, cloud service providers will face the challenge of continuously improving performance, scalability, and security in hyperscale cloud environments. To achieve the required service levels, these hyperscale cloud service providers use a number of tools, including:
● Enhanced computing, network and storage infrastructure
● New technologies for visual computing and artificial intelligence
● Move some cloud services to the edge of the network
