First of all, what is a power amplifier?

Power amplifier: referred to as "PA", refers to an amplifier that can produce maximum power output under given distortion conditions and drive resistive, capacitive, and inductive loads (such as speakers, piezoelectric ceramics, transducers, electromagnetic coils, etc.).

Generally, we divide power amplifiers into Class A , Class B , Class AB , Class D , etc. , among which Class A is a linear power amplifier, Class D is a nonlinear power amplifier, and Class B is between linear and nonlinear.

Class A : Features: no distortion, low efficiency, generally 20-30% , consumes power whether there is a signal input or not. (Rarely used now)

Class B : There is a problem of crossover distortion, the maximum working efficiency can reach 78.5% , and there is no power loss .

Class D : It has high efficiency, which can reach more than 80 %, small size, low distortion, and good frequency response curve. However, the operation is complicated. Class D amplifiers are digital amplifiers .

Class AB : It is a design that combines the advantages of Class A and Class B amplifiers. The efficiency ratio and fidelity are better than Class A and Class B amplifiers. Class AB amplifiers are also the most widely used type.
