Nengdian Electronics Capacitive Liquid Level Sensor D1CS-D54 Review [Copy link]

This post was last edited by wo4fisher on 2021-9-12 10:55

1. Test environment

5V2A mobile phone charger head, Torch multi-function DC tester, liquid container (measuring cylinder, beverage bottle cap), Nengdian electronic capacitive liquid level sensor D1CS-D54

2. Evaluation Principle

Nengdian Electronics capacitive liquid level sensor D1CS-D54 is powered by 5V, and is a switch output liquid level sensor with low level valid. When no liquid is detected, the output pin is high level, and when liquid is detected, the output is low level.

Three evaluation principle diagram

Four test steps

4.1 LED module LED lighting voltage and current, no sensor connected

Power supply voltage 4.948v, current display 0.007A

4.2 Connect the sensor, connect the LED module, no liquid (water), then the LED lights up

Voltage 4.948v, current fluctuates between 0.006A-0.008A

4.3 Connect the sensor, connect the LED module, and there is liquid (water), then the LED will go out

Voltage 4.948V, current 0.001A. At this time, because the sensor I/O outputs a low level, the LED drive circuit is turned off and there is basically no current. Therefore, in the following cases, the voltage and current are basically the same

There are several types of liquids:

1) Water is in a measuring cup with a wall thickness of 2.5-2.6 mm

2) The mud and water are in the measuring cup, and the wall thickness of the measuring cup is 2.5-2.6mm

3) Water in the cover, sensor immersed in water

5. Conclusion

Nengdian Electronics' capacitive liquid level sensor D1CS-D54 is powered by 5V and is a switch liquid level detection sensor. The manual states that during the detection process, the maximum distance between the liquid and the sensor is 2.5mm. The actual measurement is about 2.5mm (the wall thickness of the measuring cup), which can correctly detect the presence or absence of liquid. In addition, since the sensor is a sealed package, it can be completely immersed in the liquid. In addition, the outer shell is a plastic package with certain anti-corrosion properties. In addition, since a 2.5mm distance is allowed between the sensor and the detected liquid, it is suitable for non-contact measurement of liquid level detection occasions. The sensor is repackaged and can be installed in some special environments.

The manual shows that the current is different when there is liquid or not, but when tested here, the current shown in the tester does not change much when there is liquid or not, and the current is also very small, about 1ma. It is suitable for embedded low-power applications.

*Note that the sensor needs to pay attention to the detection surface, which is the side without the mounting hole.

As a miniaturized sensor, it can be widely used. Thumbs up.

But as a capacitive measurement, there are many ready-made products, from industrial grade to civilian use. What is the selling point of this product?

In fact, there are some indicators that have not been evaluated, such as price, delivery cycle, stability, etc. As for the selling point, that is the manufacturer's businessヾ^_^  Details Published on 2021-10-9 16:10

The brother's stuff is really professional, and the experimental summary is also good! ! !

I can't say it's professional, but I just try to measure the specific effects of product features from the application perspective. Professional evaluation requires professional equipment.  Details Published on 2021-9-16 07:41

Theoretically the operating current should not be lower than what is stated in the official data sheet. Check your test equipment.

soso posted on 2021-9-13 09:41 The experimental equipment is quite professional.

We have developed several liquid level detection solutions based on ultrasonic principle, optical principle, capacitance and electrode principles. According to internal test comparison, the accuracy and reliability of the capacitance type are not as good as the photoelectric principle. If it is used in experimental equipment, it is recommended that you learn about the optical principle non-contact type. Although the volume is larger than the capacitance type, the liquid level detection accuracy, repeatability and reliability are higher.

Because of the working principle, the capacitive type is more easily affected by external factors, such as metal materials, liquid conductivity, temperature and humidity, etc. The application equipment we are currently exposed to is basically customized in sensitivity according to the actual use of the equipment and scenarios, so that it will be more reliable.
