Lakka Introduction
Lakka is a lightweight Linux distribution that turns a tiny computer into a full-fledged gaming console. Lakka can run on a variety of different hardware platforms, including personal computers, Raspberry Pi development boards, and other ARM core hardware platforms.
1. Install Lakka
Lakka official website:
http://www.lakka.tv/get/linux/rpi4/
Image address for Raspberry Pi 4:
http://le.builds.lakka.tv/RPi2.RPi4.arm/Lakka-RPi2.RPi4.arm-2.3.2.img.gz
Use Win32DiskImager to write the image to the TF card, install it to the Raspberry Pi, and connect the Raspberry Pi to the keyboard and network cable, then you can start it. It will initialize after startup, and then you can use the system after restarting once.
2. Chinese version of Lakka
The language options built into Lakka include simplified Chinese, but the Chinese font is not complete. Some Chinese characters are not displayed completely and will be displayed as squares □. To perfectly display Chinese characters, the built-in font needs to be replaced.
Use the arrow keys to find Settings - Services, then press Enter to display the following interface. The left and right arrow keys can control ON/OFF, and the backspace key is for returning. Select both SSH Enable and SAMBA Enable to ON. After restarting, you can see Lakka's share in the network neighborhood and can also connect using SSH.
Then use the keyboard to find Main Menu - Information, find Network Information, check the IP address and write it down.
Then install WinSCP (a secure and efficient FTP upload software based on SSH). After installation, open it. Host name: recorded IP address, mine is 192.168.1.30. User name: root; Password: root,
After setting, log in and overwrite the font font.ttf in the Lakka directory /tmp/assets/xmb/monochrome
Then press the ESC key twice to reload, and you will see that the simplified Chinese menu is displayed correctly. This is the end of the Chinese translation.
3. Change the time zone
The default time zone of Lakka is not China's time zone. To change it, use the command. Use Putty software to connect to the IP address of the Raspberry Pi. The default port is 22. Then connect. The username and password are both root.
Then enter the command echo "TIMEZONE=Asia/Chongqing" > /storage/.cache/timezone
(You can copy this command, then right-click in the PUTTY interface, and the command will be automatically pasted into PUTTY). Then enter reboot and press Enter, and lakka will automatically restart. After restarting, the time in the upper right corner of the lakka main interface will become the correct time in the Chinese time zone.
4. Download game ROM
Due to copyright reasons, Lakka does not integrate game ROMs. Users need to download ROMs from the Internet, then upload them to the ROMs/downloads directory through the Network Neighborhood, and use the Load Game Content function in the main menu to load the game.
5. Select the simulator
Different games correspond to different emulators. Choose the corresponding emulator according to the game you downloaded. I downloaded a Super Mario in SFC format. You need to choose the corresponding emulator.
6. Key modification
I use the keyboard to simulate the handle, which requires setting the buttons, which can be found in the main menu.
7. Start the game.
