I wrote a CMUX on a bare-metal MCU, but I didn't use PPP, I just used transparent transmission. Then the remaining virtual serial ports used SMS and AT. I regretted it a little bit after finishing it. It's really meaningless to use CMUX without running the TCP/IP protocol stack myself.
