Several Examples of Special Applications of Light Emitting Diodes

Light Emitting Diodes are devices that we often use. Here we introduce several of its special uses, which may be very helpful for amateur electronics enthusiasts with limited conditions in electronic production (see attached picture).

Figure (a) is an application circuit that uses a light-emitting diode (LED) to monitor the battery voltage. The voltage value of the voltage regulator DW in the circuit should be selected to be about 70% of the rated voltage of the battery.

Figure (b) shows an LED used in a 220V, 50Hz mains supply as an indicator of electrical appliance operation or fuse blown.

Figure (c) shows two LEDs connected in reverse parallel and used in a phase-shifted thyristor voltage regulator circuit to replace a bidirectional trigger diode.

Figure (d) is used in a fixed output three-terminal voltage regulator circuit to increase the output voltage. It can also be used as a power indicator.
