Goodbye 2019, hello 2020! Maker education has a long way to go [Copy link]

I have worked in electronics-related jobs before, and planned a programming maker training with my friends, but it never came to fruition. In my spare time, I played with blood glucose meters and POS machines, participated in forum activities, and created a few unfinished works.

In 2018, I started to put more experience into the research and development of maker works, hoping to engage in maker education. I made a video remote control car and related courses. I had no experience in the courses and they were not implemented in the end. The relevant content of the lesson plan cannot be found (cloud storage was not well set up, so this stupid problem would not occur now), and only sporadic operating steps were left.

I previously uploaded a course on temperature and humidity IoT. Since I didn’t consider the platform cost, although the function was achieved... I think I have said too much (I should also mention the fire protection engineer exam, after all, it took a lot of time)

In 2019 , I started to engage in maker self-media . I was inspired by YouTube masters and "Technology DOT". I initially planned to focus on videos, but later I found that the workload was too large and I could not guarantee the update frequency. It was completely unsuitable for me. After releasing four or five videos, I focused on articles.

Looking back at last year (2019), there were several maker works and corresponding tutorials. Here is a brief summary:

Thermometer and hygrometer: https://bbs.eeworld.com.cn/thread-1071728-1-1.html

Music box: https://bbs.eeworld.com.cn/thread-1072596-1-1.html

Water heater upgrade wifi control: (Please, I will post the link below without looking for it)

Raspberry Pi music player, music box, Raspberry Pi computer, voice-controlled thermometer and hygrometer, cloud storage solution, timer, Raspberry Pi website, lightsaber...

Summary: 1. Physical works: The quality and practicality of the works have been significantly improved, but it will take time to verify whether the public can accept them.

2. Articles and videos: Although the number is small, it is obvious that the titles and content structure need to be optimized to cater to the public taste (preferences and habits)

3. We-media operation: strengthen cooperation and packaging promotion. I still have confidence. Those we-media that publish “parallel imports” every day can become popular, but I can’t publish solid goods. I don’t believe it! (Maybe I didn’t understand it correctly. Maybe the audience just likes to watch parallel imports. After a while, I will learn from them and publish parallel imports every day.)

2020

I don’t need to take the firefighting exam anymore. Instead, I’ll get a teaching certificate and try to get a job in maker education in a school.

Work: I will continue to design and produce maker works, and strive to make them more practical and simple, so that more people can understand what I am doing. I hope to be able to implement 1-2 projects like the lightsaber that can interact with netizens. I also hope to find like-minded friends and complete some meaningful big projects together.

Water purifier, fire alarm linkage, weapons collection, make a COSPLAY video...

Technology: I hope to keep up with the pace of the big guys and understand their programming ideas.

Self-media operation: determine the platform, continue to find partners, help each other and promote each other. Strive to update the content every day.

Make more friends. Sometimes, that's how you build a circle of friends and a network of relationships. Good connections are better than anything else.   Details Published on 2020-1-31 15:37

Many teachers say that maker is a culture and there should be no maker education.

I don’t quite understand. Is it because there are too many comprehensive subjects?  Details Published on 2020-1-10 12:02

Maker is an innovative activity that integrates various knowledge and existing conditions. It should not have restrictions or too many constraints. Education is the inheritance of knowledge and has a system. Foreign countries also emphasize STEM education more, not maker education.  Details Published on 2020-1-10 12:16

That makes sense. However, innovation also requires a foundation. Innovation can only be achieved after all kinds of knowledge and existing conditions have reached the corresponding threshold. Students need help to reach this threshold. Helping students reach this threshold is what I understand as maker education.

That is circuits, the Internet of Things, and robotics learning and education, not maker education. There is no unified standard for makers now.  Details Published on 2020-1-10 14:16

Come on. It's a two-sided thing, so you can say whatever you want.
