On the road to 5G, is GaN technology really important? [Copy link]

Compared with GaAs, silicon or other traditional semiconductor materials, GaN will shine in 5G network applications, such as high frequency and small base stations with limited size. As shown in the figure below, the enhancement of wireless networks will drive many technological advances as the standard evolves to 5G.

GaN has significant advantages over current technologies. GaN can provide higher power density and has many advantages:

- Reduced size
- Reduced current consumption

- Improved system efficiency

The above is the road to 5G given by Qorvo in " Enabling 5G Mobile Communications with GaN Technology: Laying a Solid Foundation for Success ". GaN technology is very important and will play an exciting and key role in the 5G landscape. Is this really the case?
