Ask about inductor winding [Copy link]

I have been working on high-frequency filter circuits recently, and the calculated inductance values are all relatively small, so I wondered if I could wind an inductor of a few nh to tens of nh by hand. After consulting a lot of information, I found that most wound inductors are above UH, so I have doubts about this issue. I would like to ask you for advice. If you have experience, I hope you can recommend the corresponding magnetic core, thank you.

nH-level inductors are all hollow-core. You can find a hollow-core inductor calculator online. However, the precision of homemade inductors is often difficult to control, and they are not suitable for occasions with higher requirements. Adjustment is too troublesome and requires strong hands-on ability and theoretical foundation. There is no such trouble when buying finished wound inductors.   Details Published on 2019-7-7 16:41

The OP wants to wind an inductor smaller than 1uH.

Without a magnetic core, the inductance will be much smaller with the same number of turns and the same diameter. So it is better not to wind with a magnetic core.
