Gate driver circuit with current detection IR212X application manual Gate driver ICs with current detection: IR212X application manual IR212X Overview IR212X device introduction Current detection principle Current detection circuit structure Layout considerations IR212X device introduction IR has four single-channel drivers with current detection function. IR2121 and IR2125 are low-side and high-side drivers respectively, which have higher driving capabilities (1A out/2A in). The current detection circuit in these two devices uses a timing circuit, and the ERR pin determines the delay time from detecting overcurrent to shutting down the output. IR2127 and IR2128 are both high-side drivers (IR2127 input is high active, IR2128 input is low active), their output capabilities are lower (200mA out/420mA in), and the current detection circuit is also simpler. For applications that require the output to be high for a long time, or the load impedance is large (>500 ohm), the voltage on the bootstrap capacitor will drop. In this case, a charge pump circuit is required (see Application Note AN978). For how to select the bootstrap components, see DT98-2 \"Selection of Driver Bootstrap Components\".
