The new S-600 series uses true SLC NAND to provide extreme reliability and unmatched data retention for critical industrial applications
BRONSCHHOFEN, Switzerland, December 13, 2022 - Swissbit has launched its new S-600 series of next-generation SD and microSD cards based on SLC Flash, even as many manufacturers have removed cards with SLC NAND from their product lines. The technology that stores only one bit per cell remains the best in terms of reliability, data integrity and data retention time. Only SLC is able to reach 100,000 P/E cycles (program/erase cycles), which makes it ideal for applications that require extremely robust and durable storage solutions. This is especially true for edge IoT applications in critical industrial environments, making the S-600 ideal for devices such as PLCs, HMIs, sensors, switches and gateways. The S-600 with its high-performance system architecture uses Hyperstone's new S9 controller designed specifically for industrial Flash cards. This new card series is available in a variety of capacities from 512 MB to 32 GB and has a continuous data rate of up to 95 MB/s.
Swissbit S-600 is the first memory card to use the new Hyperstone S9 NAND flash controller, which is specially developed for industrial applications. Unique firmware features ensure longer service life and safe and reliable storage of even small data. The product series provides first-class data retention and data integrity in all situations, including high temperature environments, non-continuous writes and sudden power outages.
Developed specifically for industrial applications, the S-600 series is rated for use over a temperature range of -40 to +85 °C and is resistant to moisture, shock and vibration.
All memory cards in the S-600 series are fully compliant with the SD 5.0 standard and support SPI mode and UHS-I interface mode for embedded systems. They have UHS speed grade U3 and speed grade 10 and video speed grade V30. The sequential data rate is 95 MB/s read and 55 MB/s write. Typical application scenarios for SD and microSD cards include IPC, HMI equipment, POS/POI terminals, medical systems, energy metering and transportation.
The S-600 is available in capacities from 512 MB to 32 GB, and the S-600u microSD card is available in capacities from 512 MB to 2 GB.
Broad SLC portfolio provides the reliability you need for long-term operation
The S-600 series further expands the Swissbit SLC solutions product line, solidifying the company's position as one of the few manufacturers to offer SLC storage technology in multiple form factors and interfaces. As a specialist in industrial storage solutions, Swissbit offers customers premium solutions for applications that require ultra-long-lasting Flash memory lifespan, for systems that will last for many years.
With SLC versions of CFast and CompactFlash cards, a wide range of SATA modules and 2.5-inch SATA SSDs, Swissbit will continue to ensure that its customers' applications continue to run reliably, now and in the future.
