On November 3rd local time, Qorvo announced the acquisition of United Silicon Carbide (UnitedSiC), a U.S. silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductor manufacturer.
The transaction amount has not been disclosed, but the acquisition will extend Qorvo's influence to the electric vehicle (EV), industrial power, circuit protection, renewable energy and data center power markets. UnitedSiC will be incorporated into Qorvo's Infrastructure and Defense Products (IDP) division.
According to data, United Silicon Carbide's product portfolio now covers more than 80 SiC FET, JFET and Schottky diode devices. SiC is an important representative of the third generation of semiconductors. Compared with traditional silicon materials, it can significantly improve system efficiency, including EV, EV charging and energy infrastructure.
