In the ranking of retailers' technology investment priorities announced in 2022, "updating POS infrastructure" ranks second. The update of POS infrastructure is crucial to keeping the supply chain system synchronized and is a key part of the digital transformation of stores. However, POS equipment is only a microcosm of smart devices. With the continuous upgrading and iteration of various smart devices, upgrading physical stores to digital stores will also become a future trend.

However, most retail companies still face many challenges in the digital transformation process. First of all, there is a lack of clear planning and investment in the software and hardware equipment for basic digital store applications, making it difficult to implement digital stores. Secondly, the integration of digitalization and business is not close enough, and the value of digital technology application is difficult to fully reflect. Third, data collection is difficult, of poor quality, and severely fragmented, resulting in poor data application results. Fourth, data exchange is difficult. Finally, the transformation of large supermarkets requires a large amount of capital investment, and it is difficult to see returns in the short term. This is also a major challenge in the digital transformation process. In response to these problems, the digital transformation of the retail industry needs to pay more attention to the introduction of innovative technologies. Retail companies and retail equipment manufacturers need to fully perceive the needs of consumers and store operations, and use new technologies and new applications to achieve the improvement of omni-channel retail, so as to Enhance consumer stickiness.

Facing the future, in response to the digital transformation needs of the retail industry, Intel will help more users build digital solutions based on Intel technology through its powerful software and hardware product portfolio and innovative technologies, providing intelligence for all-time and all-domain business models in smart retail scenarios. Edge's technical support accelerates the integration of digital transformation into the new retail industry chain, and joins hands with industry partners to enter a new era of smart retail.
