5G is a challenge and opportunity for any company. Whoever can seize the opportunity at this stage can continue to walk at the forefront of the industry, otherwise they will be abandoned by the cruel market. Facing the challenges of the 5G era, what advantages does Samsung have?

Possessing 5G core technology advantages

In fact, Samsung has been engaged in 5G research and development for ten years. During these 10 years, Samsung has achieved many research results in the core areas of 5G and has become one of the top players in the 5G industry. In 2013, Samsung developed the world's first adaptive array transceiver technology working in the millimeter wave Ka band, mainly used for cellular communications, and its transmission speed is hundreds of times faster than 4G; in 2016, Samsung demonstrated the commercialization scenario of 5G technology; Samsung achieved the world's first gigabit-level 5G transmission, multi-device 5G switching and other actual tests, etc. Samsung's research in the 5G field will be in the first echelon.

As of the beginning of 2019, Samsung has applied for 1,400 5G-related patents. At the same time, Samsung has also created the industry's first 5G full solution consisting of three core chips, including a multi-mode chip that supports 5G low-frequency bands and millimeter waves, a radio frequency and power management chip, and a millimeter wave radio frequency chip.

As the world entered the 5G era, Samsung launched the world's first commercial 5G mobile phone, the Galaxy S10 5G, in August. So far, the global shipments of the Galaxy S10 5G have exceeded 2 million units.

Comprehensive upgrading of industrial structure

Since the beginning of the 21st century, China's internal economic market has undergone tremendous changes. Faced with this market situation, Samsung has eliminated its previous single assembly production model, increased its core development in diversified industries in China, and explored a path of transformation.

According to Samsung market sources: Many years ago, Samsung entered China simply as a company engaged in mechanical and electronic parts processing, but now, Samsung has 7 research institutes in China and nearly 90,000 Chinese employees.

As an international brand that has truly integrated into the Chinese market, Samsung has continuously improved its technology while also beginning to understand user needs, and of course, ultimately promoting industrial upgrading.

The arrival of 5G marks our true transformation from "manufacturing" to "intelligent manufacturing". How to choose the right development path in the current situation is a judgment that all manufacturers need to make.
