Washing machines are one of the essential home appliances for modern people, saving time and effort. However, some friends do not pay attention when using washing machines, and throw dirty clothes into them. This is a big mistake! Because if the washing machine is not used properly, the clothes washed out may be dirtier than before you washed them! Today, I will share with you the common misunderstandings about the use of washing machines. See if you have been fooled?

Analysis of five common misunderstandings in washing machine use

1. The washing machine is not clean

Modern people like to use washing machines to wash clothes, but most families rarely clean their washing machines. Our current washing machines, whether they are drum washing machines or pulsator washing machines, use an inner and outer two-layer structure, divided into an inner drum and an outer drum. The inner drum is the part that we can see when we open the door of the washing machine normally. It is the part that directly contacts the clothes. There are a large number of holes on the inner drum, which are used for drying and draining the washing machine. The outer drum uses a completely sealed structure, covering the outside of the inner drum, acting as a container to ensure that the water in the washing drum will not enter the structure of the washing machine. However, the outer drum of the washing machine cannot be seen at all without disassembling the washing machine, so many people have no idea that the washing machine also has an outer drum structure.

In order to ensure sufficient structural strength, the inner drum of the drum washing machine uses a tripod structure on the outside of the bottom of the inner drum. In order to facilitate drainage and spin drying, the inner drum is covered with a large number of holes on the surface. In order to ensure the overall structural strength, the outer drum also uses a large number of uneven reinforcing rib structures, making the structure relatively complex. Therefore, when the drum washing machine is washing, sewage with impurities such as detergent, clothing lint, and stains can flow freely between the inner and outer drums, and these complex structures make it impossible to drain the sewage. When the washing machine is not working, as the water in the washing machine evaporates, the various stains in the sewage will form stains that are tightly attached to the outer wall of the inner drum, and make the outer wall of the inner drum of the washing machine rough, making it easier to accumulate stains.

The same problem exists in pulsator washing machines, and it is even more serious than that in drum washing machines. In order to ensure strength, there are a lot of reinforcing ribs on the back of the pulsator in the inner drum. At the same time, because there are a lot of holes in the inner drum of the pulsator washing machine that connect to the outer drum, stains will also accumulate on the outer wall of the inner drum.

Suggestion: As an ordinary user, what we can do is to let the washing machine run the self-cleaning function frequently, or use washing machine detergent frequently to minimize the long-term accumulation of stains in the washing machine; adjust the water temperature higher when washing clothes, or add disinfectant when washing clothes to reduce the degree of contamination of our clothes by bacteria in the water.

2. Wash clothes together

Some people are in the habit of throwing all the clothes they take off, whether outerwear, underwear or socks, into the washing machine or soaking them in a basin, which will make the clothes even dirtier.

Sweat stains from worn clothes will remain on the clothes. Clothes soaked with sweat are prone to mold. If they are mixed with other laundry, the scope of contamination will expand. Moreover, if a large number of clothes are washed together, it is not easy for the detergent to fully contact the clothes, making them difficult to clean.

Outerwear exposed to dust also has countless bacteria, including some strong pathogens, such as Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic streptococcus, etc. Therefore, when soaking and washing clothes, be sure to wash underwear and outerwear separately.

Recommendation: The amount of clothes washed each time should account for about 70% of the volume of the washing machine drum. Underwear is best washed by hand. If you use a washing machine, place it separately and wash it with warm water. In addition, you may want to pour disinfectant or bleach into the washing machine and let it run for 10 minutes once a week to sterilize.

3. Soak overnight before washing

Many people like to soak clothes for a long time before washing, thinking that the longer the soaking time, the cleaner the clothes will be. However, the opposite is true. If the soaking time is too long, the chemicals in the laundry detergent and the stains in the clothes will be more easily decomposed, emitting odors. Over time, they will enter the clothing fibers and cause the clothes to fade and age.

Recommendation: Soak dirty clothes for 15 minutes. Even for thick clothes, the soaking time should not exceed 30 minutes.

4. The more detergent or liquid you put in, the better the effect.

Many people think that the more detergent or liquid you put in, the cleaner your clothes will be. This is actually a wrong idea. When the detergent in the water reaches saturation, the extra detergent will not increase the cleaning power. To use detergent efficiently and economically, you must use the appropriate amount according to the amount of water used for washing clothes.

Recommendation: First add half the amount according to the instructions of the laundry detergent. If there is less foam, add more gradually.

5. The zipper is not closed properly and the buttons are not unbuttoned

The "teeth" of metal zippers can bite other clothes, scratching or tearing them. It can also damage the inner wall of the washing machine; if the buttons are not unbuttoned, they are more likely to fall off and the buttonholes are deformed.

Recommendation: Zip up clothes before washing and check whether all buttons of the clothes are undone.
