The recent extensive testing at the Daimler Trucks Development and Test Center (EVZ) has focused on assistance systems that will be available on a wide range of Daimler trucks and buses from April 2024. In addition to the Mercedes-Benz trucks Actros, Arocs, eActrosT and Atego, the test vehicles also include Daimler bus and Mercedes-Benz special truck models.
Whether it is emergency braking at the tail end of traffic jams, improving safety when turning right and changing lanes, reducing the risk of sideslip (for example when cornering) or performing other evasive maneuvers and applications, with the help of Safety Assist, professional drivers can Make it easier to stay on top of many (sometimes dangerous) situations in road traffic, thereby avoiding accidents or mitigating their consequences.
Mustafa Ustertuna, head of software and electronics at Daimler Trucks, said: "Tests like this are important because the results and findings obtained can be used to optimize existing driver assistance systems or develop new safety features."
