Things to note when measuring current with a digital multimeter

The methods and precautions for digitally measuring AC current are exactly the same as measuring DC current.

(1) If you do not know the size range of the current to be measured before use, set the transfer switch to the maximum range and gradually reduce it to the appropriate range.

If the display only shows "000", there are two possibilities: first, there is no current passing through the circuit (component); second, the selected range is too large, choose to decrease the range by one range and retest until a more accurate value can be read. value.

(2) During the process of measuring current, the range conversion switch cannot be moved while it is powered on.

(3) The DC current range 20a or 10a of the digital multimeter is not protected by a fuse, and the measurement time cannot exceed 15 seconds.

(4) The DC current and AC current blocks of some digital multimeters are set together, marked as current block "a".

(5) When the digital multimeter detects current, the test leads should be inserted into the current jack. When detecting small current (μa, ma) and large current (a), the red test leads should be inserted into different jacks.
