BEIJING, China – September 20, 2022 – Qorvo®, Inc., a leading provider of innovative RF solutions that connect the world, today introduced a compact integrated front-end module (iFEM) that delivers efficient, reliable whole-home coverage for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and eventually Wi-Fi 7 systems. The QPF7250 iFEM extends Wi-Fi range by 30% over competing products while increasing capacity to support more access points for smart homes and the Internet of Things.
Qorvo's QPF7250 integrates a 2.4 GHz power amplifier (PA) with DC and RF power detectors, an FCC edgeBoost™ bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter, a transmit/receive switch (SP2T), and a low noise amplifier (LNA) with bypass in a single device . With Qorvo edgeBoost filtering technology, regulatory requirements can be met without reducing output power on any Wi-Fi channel, maximizing capacity and coverage. Its power amplifier is optimized for efficiency, consuming 0.35 watts less power than previous generations.
"Qorvo's new iFEM delivers exceptional power efficiency, saving 1.4 watts in a 4-stream router, outperforming other competing products," said Tony Testa, director of marketing for Qorvo's Wireless Connectivity products. "The QPF7250 is extremely compact, enabling smaller access points and wireless routers with less interference. This device is the latest in Qorvo's growing portfolio of highly integrated products that will address the operational and architectural flexibility needs of Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 systems, including home gateways, routers and enterprise deployment solutions."
The QPF7250 iFEM consumes 15% less power and generates less heat, while increasing range by approximately 10% through higher power to meet regulatory requirements and high throughput on Wi-Fi channels 1 to 11. This improves range, capacity and coexistence across all available channels, significantly improving quality of service. The Qorvo iFEM reduces time to market by solving integration challenges within the module and providing reliable, RF-tested performance. The reduced number of parts also reduces bill of materials costs and total cost of ownership.
QPF7250 samples and production equipment are available from Qorvo and authorized distributors.
Qorvo's Wireless Connectivity (WCON) business unit is a developer of wireless semiconductor system solutions for connected devices supporting Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread and Bluetooth® Low Energy. WCON provides integrated Wi-Fi front ends, as well as a comprehensive range of advanced RF chips and software to power the Internet of Things.
