"Everything in the world is connected, connecting things and people, connecting people and people, connecting the present and the future. We want to become an indispensable existence." This is our imagination of the future world and also Kyocera's pursuit of its own positioning.
From December 20 to 22, the 2018 Shenzhen International Electronics Exhibition ( ELEXCON 2018) was held in Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center. During the exhibition, we visited the Kyocera booth, and Kiyohiko Higashiyama, deputy general manager of Kyocera (China) Trading Co., Ltd., introduced and explained some of the company's products to us.
At this exhibition, Kyocera has two main exhibition areas: automotive and general industry. In the automotive exhibition area, Kyocera's automotive LCD screens (including HUD head-up display, HAPTIVITY display with touch technology, camera with AI recognition function and V21 (vehicle to infrastructure) solution) attracted the attention of the audience. Kyocera set up a simulated cockpit on site for the audience to experience and feel the advanced experience brought by the 3D AR head-up display (HUD).
Kyocera's HUD LCD has an industry-leading transmittance of 7.3%, a diversified product line from 1.12'' to 3.1'' that can meet the C-HUD, W-HUD and AR-HUD market applications, and complete technical and service support. The head-up display LCD can project information such as driving speed, clock, distance, and various alarm reminders onto the windshield, using the parallax barrier method unique to Kyocera's LCDs. It is also equipped with an eye tracking function, which automatically corrects according to the driver's viewpoint position, and works with ADAS to display content in 3D, presenting a 3D image that will not be misplaced from any angle.
At the same time, the artificial intelligence rear-view camera developed by Kyocera can identify objects behind and behind the vehicle and notify the driver to avoid them in time, thereby assisting the vehicle in entering and exiting the garage, reversing, etc. In addition, through the AI recognition function, pedestrians and vehicles can be identified, which plays a positive role in promoting the realization of automatic driving, thereby helping to improve driving safety.

Kyocera is one of the earliest parts manufacturers in the world to apply LCD to automobiles. It effectively utilizes the functional characteristics of PASSIVE and TFT and greatly increases the freedom of design through its unique processing technology that can cope with a variety of shapes to meet customer needs.
In the automotive exhibition area, Kyocera also displayed products such as automotive cameras, LiDAR components, multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCC), LED substrates, automotive wire distribution connectors, and automotive heater ignition plugs.
in-vehicle cameras
With the characteristics of high resolution and wide dynamic range, vehicle-mounted cameras are used in scenarios such as panoramic systems, reversing images and obstacle recognition.
With the development of vehicle-mounted assisted driving systems, vehicle -mounted LiDARs are gaining more and more attention. Kyocera's ceramic tube shells are being adopted by more and more customers for their high thermal conductivity and excellent environmental visibility. Among the functional modules of LiDAR components, the transmitter uses a high heat dissipation FC substrate and realizes a low inductance design through a multi-layer structure.

Kyocera is currently developing MLCC products for the EV field using the MLCC core technology it has in the smartphone field . The trend of MLCC becoming increasingly smaller and higher in volume will also better serve the EV field.

In the LED substrate segment, Kyocera's products are used in automotive headlights, corner lights, daylights and taillights to meet driving safety and comfort ADB (adaptive high beams). Currently, Kyocera's LED substrates used in headlights maintain a high market share in the international market.
Since Kyocera began selling the "9215 Series" wire distribution connector in 1992, its excellent contact reliability and excellent operability brought by its unique structure have been well received by customers.
Automotive Wire Distribution Connectors "9715 Series"
The "9715 Series" automotive wire distribution connector exhibited by Kyocera this time uses its independently developed lock structure to achieve waterproof performance and good reliability. It is a product used when branching wires from the main wiring harness of the car to install accessories such as navigation, ETC, and driving recorders.
With the accelerated development of automotive electronics such as advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and connected cars, the demand for automotive connectors that can be used in harsh outdoor environments that are greatly affected by wind, rain and dust is also increasing.
Car heater ignition plug
The vehicle heater ignition plug has the characteristics of electrical insulation and no oxidation, good voltage resistance, high thermal efficiency, etc. It heats up quickly to achieve high reliability and rapid ignition.
It can be seen that as the automotive industry moves towards intelligence and autonomous driving, Kyocera's strong R&D capabilities and solid technical foundation make it a promoter of the automotive industry.
During the presentation, Kyocera staff also showed us the newly developed blood flow sensor module. This product uses the optical Doppler phenomenon of light frequency shifting with the speed of red blood cells to measure blood flow. With its small size, high sensitivity and high reliability, it is suitable for home medical testing, wearable devices, fatigue driving detection and other scenarios, and is widely used.

In addition to automotive products, Kyocera's global business covers raw materials, parts, equipment, machinery, services, networks, etc. Kyocera is constantly innovating, frequently developing new technologies and new components, and applying them across industries in multiple fields, playing a positive role in the development of various fields.
In the general product exhibition area of this exhibition, Kyocera also displayed large multi-layer substrates, tube shells for TOF sensors, FC package substrates (FCBGA package substrates, FCCSP package substrates), optical communication products, small RFID ceramic tags, plastic seals for BGA, plastic seals for compression molding, diode modules, smart toilet seat heaters and other products covering information communication, electronic components, life environmental protection and other fields as well as Kyoto Opal products used as decorative materials.
Kyoto Opal is based on the concept of "creating eternal beauty" and uses quartz particles of the same material as natural opal. It uses Kyocera's self-developed gem synthesis technology and decorative materials developed by Kyocera. It can be processed in a variety of ways, such as resin, film, and glass plates.
Kyoto Opal Products
According to its use and internal structure, it can be divided into three types: inorganic type, resin impregnation type, and polymer resin colloidal crystal type. It has the same appearance characteristics and internal structure as natural opal, realizes the unique "color effect" of opal, rich and diverse color changes, and can achieve a variety of shapes through various processing.
Through understanding the above Kyocera automotive products and general industrial products, we can find that Kyocera is constantly exploring market changes and using its cutting-edge technology to develop products that meet market demand, which are widely used in the automotive, medical, communications, industrial, entertainment, home appliances and other industries. It always pursues technological progress as an industry leader and is committed to becoming an indispensable presence in the future world.
I remember that Kazuo Inamori, the founder of Kyocera, once said, “As long as you give your all, God will appear.” Similarly, “As long as you give your all, your goals will be achieved.”
