Moore Elite One-Stop Testing Service - Solve the pain points of production capacity, quality and cost
Cyclic fluctuations in the industry are the main reason that affects customers' production forecasts. Overall, the revenue of the semiconductor industry has been rising year by year, but the actual fluctuations in each quarter are very large, which makes it difficult for chip design companies to make accurate forecasts. In this unpredictable market, vicious competition among peers has further intensified. When the market peaks, supply exceeds demand, forcing each test factory to purchase a large amount of equipment; however, once the trough comes, supply exceeds demand, and the test factories immediately turn into low-price competition.
Therefore, in this cyclically fluctuating industry context, it is crucial for chip design companies to accurately predict chip testing capacity while ensuring cost-effectiveness; while for test plants, the key is how to control the cash flow risk caused by capacity fluctuations. Specifically, how to solve the supply and demand contradiction between chip design companies and test plants lies in the testing equipment, testing engineering capabilities and factory management level.
Pain point 1: Insufficient test capacity caused by ATE test equipment
Unlike chip design and process technology, the core technology evolution of ATE test machines is relatively slow. Currently, even the world-class ATE test machines still use the technology from 10 years ago. Only in recent years have some boards been upgraded with parameter specifications. ATE machines, which are core testing equipment, have been monopolized by European, American and Japanese manufacturers.
European, American and Japanese manufacturers have always maintained a conservative strategy for the Chinese domestic market, mainly serving large-scale chip design companies. Their ability to serve emerging chip design companies is limited by market strategies. Domestic ATE manufacturers have always wanted to break through the technical blockade of international manufacturers, but currently there are only a few equipment manufacturers that can gain a foothold and introduce mass production, accounting for less than 10% of the market share.
As the demand for production capacity in the semiconductor chip market has exploded, the delivery cycle of first-tier ATE manufacturers has recently exceeded 6 months, which has greatly affected the supply of testing capacity.
Pain point 2: Difficulty improving engineering capabilities, unable to recruit, afford, or retain test engineers
Test program development and substrate development are important guarantees for chip testing quality, which completely rely on the ability of chip test engineers. In other words, the quality of chip testing is limited by the experience of test engineers. According to statistics, there are only about a thousand senior chip test engineers in the industry, while the industry demand has reached more than ten thousand. The contradiction between demand and supply makes recruitment the biggest problem currently facing chip companies; and scarcity has led to a huge increase in the value of test engineers every year; because a wide variety of chips can bring more experience and ability improvement to test engineers, good test engineers often choose IDM or large domestic semiconductor companies. Most domestic chip companies have a single product range, and it is difficult to retain high-quality talents even if they are recruited. Therefore, the biggest pain points facing domestic chip companies at present are the inability to recruit, support, and retain.
Pain point 3: The operating model of domestic testing factories needs to be upgraded
Packaging and testing are inherently different. Packaging is based on physical size, while testing is based on electrical function. This leads to different professional technologies for packaging and testing, and naturally requires different teams to operate. Although the price of packaging equipment is comparable to that of testing equipment, the actual revenue from packaging is 6 times that of testing. Often, the packaging and testing capabilities of packaging and testing plants present a situation of "large packaging and small testing", which may eventually affect the business volume and fail to serve chip design customers well. Domestic packaging and testing plants and third-party independent testing plants are not yet able to match the level of international first-tier plants in terms of test mass production management. As the demand for test quality of domestic chips is not growing rapidly enough, testing plants have been hovering at the consumer level. However, with the trend of consumption upgrading in China in recent years, the product quality requirements for domestic chip design companies have increased rapidly, posing a severe test for testing.

Allocate ATE machine capacity for customers worldwide
To help customers relieve capacity constraints, we can allocate machine capacity for customers worldwide. In the past, customers used as much capacity as OSATs had, but now we allocate as much capacity as customers need. The pain points of technical services have become a thing of the past. We have replaced the original ATE equipment sales model with complete mass production services.
Our test platform is derived from advanced international manufacturers. After continuous iteration and improvement, the maturity and reliability of the equipment have reached a very high level. There are currently about 1,500 self-developed ATE equipment in mass production worldwide, with an output of more than 10 billion pieces. There are hundreds of self-developed ATE equipment in China, providing customers with sufficient production capacity, and in the future we will be able to provide customers with nearly 1,000 units of production capacity.

Flexible cooperation model: providing flexible production capacity support for customers and partners
Moore Elite has a unique model of serving customers with its own machines, providing the most flexible options for both packaging and testing plants (including wafer fabs) and chip companies, aiming to solve everyone's pain points.
-
Test factory: No need to invest a large amount of money in purchasing equipment at one time, which helps to reduce cash flow pressure, improve ROI, and respond to the production capacity needs of chip design companies more quickly.
-
Design Company: In addition to abundant production capacity, the real mass production service we provide replaces the traditional "one-time deal" equipment sales to better meet the continuous demand for products.
We have three main business models. We focus on providing mass production services and hope to give customers the greatest production capacity flexibility.
-
Turnkey testing: The design company places an order for testing services with Moore Elite, which then provides production services. Moore Elite will use its own production capacity or other cooperative testing factories to help customers with mass production.
-
Backstage model: The design company assigns mass production orders to the packaging and testing factory, and Moore Elite provides testing machines and testing solutions. Moore Elite rents the machines to the packaging and testing factory or customers, and the products are mass-produced in the factory buildings of the packaging and testing factory.
-
Profit-sharing model: The design company places an order with the packaging and testing factory, Moore Elite Consigns the equipment to the factory, and the proceeds are shared with the packaging and testing factory.
Three cooperation modes
For the packaging and testing factories, we have helped solve the original equipment capital investment problem, reduced the pressure of cash flow, and significantly improved the ROI. As ATE equipment can be used "as you like", the packaging and testing factories can also respond to customer needs more quickly in terms of business, avoiding the embarrassment of "a good cook cannot cook without rice".

Moore Elite self-controlled ATE test machine
Our machines are designed for mass production and can cover nearly 70% of chip types. Statistics from mass production projects over the years show that we are able to help customers save nearly half of their testing costs. We have a particularly good advantage in MCU, power management chips, IoT chips, and SoC products.
The specifications of our test machines are benchmarked against the industry's leading equipment. They have the ability to test "digital", "analog" and "mixed signal" products. The biggest feature is the word "stable". After more than 20 years of updates and iterations, tens of billions of chips have been tested, and the combination of all software and hardware is very complete and stable. It is particularly suitable for mass production operations, and can also have a great advantage in testing costs.
ATE Equipment R&D Roadmap
At this stage, we are constantly adding new boards, combining self-designed board-level solutions, increasing machine speed and test capacity to meet a wider range of customer needs.
In 2023, the new generation of testers will include desktop engineering machines that will allow customers to quickly debug products in the laboratory and seamlessly transfer to scalable mass production machines, providing customers with advanced testing capabilities while shortening Time to Market.
The next generation of ATE, developed by Moore Elite, is comparable to the high-end models of the current leading manufacturers. The new machine will also adopt a modular approach, similar to the way of stacking blocks, so that the appropriate size of the model can be selected to provide services to different customers. In addition, we have specially prepared engineering machines for test engineers. Engineers can develop programs on the engineering machines. After debugging the product, the same test program can be directly placed on the mass production machine, without the need for special coding and debugging, and can be directly produced.
Currently, dozens of customers have used the ATE equipment we developed to introduce mass production, covering the mainstream chip market, including smart voice Audio-AI chips, mobile phone APs, power management PMIC, IoT low-power Bluetooth BLE, narrowband communication NB-IoT chips, touch chips, LED Drivers, power carrier PLC chips, image processing ISP chips, general controller MCU chips, etc.
