Dialog participated in the first Bluetooth Ecosystem Summit at the Munich South China Electronics Show
The first Bluetooth Ecosystem Summit, co-organized by Electronic Innovation Network and Munich South China Electronics Show, was held at the Shenzhen National Convention and Exhibition Center on November 3, 2020. At the summit, 13 experts in the Bluetooth field shared the latest developments in Bluetooth standards, market opportunities and TWS headset industry chain information.
Bluetooth Ecosystem Summit
The Bluetooth Ecosystem Summit was not only welcomed and supported by the on-site audience, but the online live broadcast also attracted widespread attention from the audience outside the venue.
Dialog Semiconductor's BLE FAE Leader Wang Pan attended the Bluetooth Ecosystem Summit and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Wireless Ranging WiRa - Distance Tracking Solution between Bluetooth Devices".
In his speech, he introduced Dialog SmartBond™ Wireless Ranging SDK (WiRa™), including its key features and advantages, comparison between WiRa™ and other positioning technologies, the effect of WiRa™ distance measurement, social distance tag application examples, etc.
Dialog Semiconductor BLE FAE Leader Wang Pan is giving a speech
WiRa™ is a Dialog patented method for more accurate wireless distance measurement, with an accuracy of 10 cm in typical line-of-sight conditions, which is 10 times more accurate than positioning solutions based on signal strength (RSSI). This wireless ranging solution can only be performed between a pair of DA1469x BLE SoCs in connected mode.
WiRa™ uses a proprietary radar-like implementation to greatly improve the accuracy of wireless ranging between BLE connected devices. By interweaving BLE data packets with interactive fixed-frequency signals, the DA1469x on-chip 2.4 GHz radio generates the signals required for phase-based ranging. High-resolution on-chip sampling of radio waves provides high-quality IQ samples as signal input for ranging. Data processing algorithms filter out noise, interference, reflections and other signals in the data to produce the shortest air signal path as an accurate distance output.
WiRa™ is a free software package from Dialog that runs on the DA1469x Bluetooth Low Energy ICs and development kits. A Bluetooth Low Energy connection is required to initiate WiRa wireless distance measurements and exchange data.
Wang Pan introduced that as a highly accurate wireless ranging technology, WiRa can be widely used in many application scenarios such as personnel positioning, material management, indoor navigation, etc. The social distance monitoring currently required to slow the spread of the global COVID-19 epidemic is also a typical use case of WiRa.
Dialog’s Bluetooth Low Energy-compatible protocol stack and WiRa™ software implementation require no hardware modifications or external host processor, ensuring the coexistence of Bluetooth communication and ranging processes.
