【Canaan K510】+Unboxing Introduction [Copy link]

This post was last edited by superw on 2022-9-8 23:02

I am very grateful to the forum and Canaan Technology for providing me with the opportunity to try out the K510 CRB-KIT. I believe everyone is familiar with K210. Especially in recent years, AI has become increasingly popular, and various K210 development boards can be seen everywhere on Taobao. Today, I bring you the AI chip K510 released by Canaan Technology in 2021.

Its chip computing power is three times higher than that of K210. It uses RISC-V dual-core CPU @ 800MHZ, built-in DSP coprocessor, and AI computing unit KPU supports BF16 floating-point data format. It is one of the few end-side AI chips in China that supports high-precision inference calculations.

The outer packaging of the development kit is shown in the figure

The package contains 2 USB to Type C data cables, 1 Micro USB OTG adapter cable and the development board.

The K510 CRB-KIT development board includes the K510 core module, a baseboard with complete peripheral interfaces, an acrylic protective shell, a camera daughter board, and a display daughter board. By default, the manufacturer has helped to assemble them together.

I have to complain about the courier here. The delivery was too rough and there was a scratch on the display screen on the back of the development board. Fortunately, the screen is normal after testing and no abnormalities have been found for the time being.

The relevant peripheral resources of the development board are as follows

The biggest highlight is the high-quality camera with two 8-megapixel Sony IMX219 image sensors for 3D depth vision, which can view images at 4K high resolution and a high field of view to capture more area. Here is a close-up of the camera.

In addition, the K510 CRB has a variety of storage devices on board, including 512MB DDR, 4G Bytes eMMC, 128M Bytes NAND Flash and TF card holder. You can select the corresponding boot mode by configuring the BOOT0 and BOOT1 pins on the development board.
