[EEWorld invites you to play disassembly] Anker PowerPort Speed2 dual-port QC3.0 charger disassembly [Copy link]

Disassembling a machine is fun, and it’s fun to keep disassembling it~~~

This post is sponsored by me free of charge. Any similarity is purely coincidental~~~

If eeworld sponsors a new charger, I will certainly accept it.

This Anker PowerPort Speed2 dual-port QC3.0 charger has been with me for many years, but it suddenly broke today: it couldn’t charge, and the indicator light didn’t light up. Suddenly, I didn’t feel like working overtime anymore…

1. Recall those fates

I bought this charger around 2016-17, I don’t remember the exact time, but it has been with me for more than half of the smartphone era.

Around 2011-12, I used HTC for a few years. At that time, I bought an Ames charger. In that era, the battery could be removed and used as a spare. The Ames charger could charge the battery alone and the mobile phone at the same time. It was really practical.

At the beginning of 2015, Android phones started to slow down after a few years of use, so I switched to Apple and bought an iPhone 6. At that time, the phone could normally last a whole day, but if I was on a business trip or used it frequently and didn't have time to charge it, I had to prepare a power bank. Unlike Xiaomi power banks that are everywhere on the street, a niche company has a unique product: ANKER. Small in size and powerful in performance, it is really a must-have for home, travel, business and office:

I have been with these two products for more than 4 years. I always carry them with me on business trips. Every time I get on a plane, I am checked by security. At the beginning, I can't believe that such a small size can have a capacity of 10,000 mAh. In fact, what's even more amazing is that it can be charged quickly at 9V2A when equipped with a charger. Generally, it takes 2 hours to fully charge. It's really convenient. It seems that Apple still can't charge quickly.

Power bank is still the mainstay, but the charger broke today: (

2. Disassembly

In order to make the charger play its final role, I saw a netizen share a post about disassembling the device a few days ago, so here it is:

Manufacturer: ANKER, Model: A2050, PowerPort Speed2 charger, 100-240V1,2A input, 2 USBA ports output, maximum up to 12V1.5A. In actual use, I usually use 9V2A, which is 3.6 times faster than the classic 5V1A charger.

Above the USB-A output port is a light sensor and an indicator light.

After some twists and turns, disassemble the shell:

As you can see, the circuit board is also snapped onto the shell, and the whole product is designed to be very compact and solid. The patch uses wave soldering technology and is painted with many red dots, which should be used to enhance insulation.

There is a post saying: Enter the PWM scheme as ne1118, but I can't see the model clearly (upper left corner)

Below the light sensor is the model, version, and date: A2025, V1.0, 2016.03.01.

Three LED lights serve as indicator lights, and it looks like a light bar from the outside.

A whole heat sink covers the other side, close to the outer shell. When charging at high power, the heat goes directly to the outer shell through this heat sink.

Most of the heat sink is covered with high-temperature tape and fixed with screws. The bolts are also glued so that they will not loosen easily. The details are indeed in place.

It mainly dissipates heat for two parts. I guess: one is the MOS tube, and the other is two independently stepped-down USB-A output power modules.

The two independent step-down modules look the same and are placed back to back with a thermal paste in the middle and then connected to a heat sink to dissipate heat for the power IC.

After verification, it is AG06 square chip, MPS solution.

Remove the largest aluminum heat sink. There is a small heat sink inside. I guess it is used to dissipate heat for another MOS tube.

You can see that this solid-state capacitor is 0.22 microfarads and the voltage can reach 275V~

A lot of thermal conductive glue is used to fix it, the electrolytic capacitor is also covered with heat shrink tubing to enhance insulation, and the heat sink is also insulated.

How could such an excellent product suddenly break down? The design life is only 4 years? So sad

3. Summary

As you can see, this product has a strong sense of design, is very compact, has enhanced heat dissipation, enhanced insulation, and excellent materials and craftsmanship. In actual use, when I was fast charging in 2 channels (both 9V2A), the shell got a little hot, but it worked normally.

ANKER has always had good sales overseas, and this charger was definitely a black-tech product 4-5 years ago.

Let’s take a group photo to commemorate the occasion. From now on, only the power bank will work alone.

Although I really miss my old friend, I am forced to change to a new charger ~ everyone changes.

In recent years, gallium arsenide, silicon carbide, and various new materials have given rise to new designs and new applications. Technology never stops.

A generation will eventually grow old, but there will always be someone young,,,

Check insurance first If the fuse is OK, then check the main switch tube and transformer. Then the secondary rectifier diode If everything is fine, you can check whether the main power control IC is broken.   Details Published on 2021-8-10 13:53

The speed of product update and elimination is too fast. I can't keep up with the pace. The only way is to enrich learning and explore endlessly.

Good disassembly, but no analysis of what is broken. Repair it.

The workmanship is really good, comparable to Apple chargers.

I bought this brand of iPhone data cable and I'm still using it. I also bought a pink power bank from this brand. Pink is cheaper than other colors.

At least there should be a schematic diagram. I can't even see the component names clearly. I'd better get a new one.
